About the retreat

The Midnight Sun AI Character Lab 2026 is an international Researchers' Writing Retreat dedicated to academics and researchers working on Artificial Intelligence, Gaming, Interactive Media, and Digital Human Creation.

The retreat is focused on collaborative study and academic writing related to AI-driven character creation, including generative character design, autonomous game agents, virtual personalities, interactive storytelling, narrative systems, human–AI co-creation, and the future of interactive digital beings.

Activities

Participants will engage in:

Collaborative writing sessions
Research discussions
Peer feedback workshops
Development of joint publications and research proposals
Seminars on AI-generated characters and interactive storytelling
Networking activities with international researchers working in gaming and AI

Objective

The primary objective of the retreat is to foster international academic collaboration and produce high-quality research outputs concerning emerging approaches to AI-assisted character development and interactive experiences.
